A Summer Musical Treat

The three principal cast members from The Lowestoft Players’ forthcoming production of Kipps – The New Half a Sixpence Musical, have taken a break from busy rehearsals to enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon stroll in Southwold.

Arthur Kipps (Alex Bracey), an orphan and overworked draper’s assistant at the turn of the last century, unexpectedly inherits a fortune that propels him into high society. His childhood companion, Ann Pornick (Lauren Wilson), watches with dismay as Arthur is made over in a new image by the beautiful and classy Helen Walsingham (Emma-Jayne Herbert). Both women undoubtedly love Arthur – but which of them will he choose?

Packed full of toe-tapping tunes including Flash, Bang, Wallop!, Half a Sixpence and If The Rain’s Got to Fall, this cleverly reinvented version of the original musical is a must-see for all musical theatre lovers.

With a cast of almost 30, the talented and multi-award winning Lowestoft Players will perform this production next month at their theatre, the Players Theatre on Battery Green Road, Lowestoft.

Emma-Jayne Herbert who plays Helen Walsingham said

“I’ve had so much fun over the last year. I married my other half in Italy last summer and now I’ve been cast to play the wonderful part of Helen Walsingham - I’m definitely still up on cloud nine!”

Although Emma-Jayne regularly appears on stage with the Lowestoft Players, this is the first leading roll which she has undertaken since she played Truly Scrumptious in the Lowestoft Players’ production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2019 staged at The Marina Theatre.

Kipps will run for 10 performances from 7th to 15th June 2024, including two matinees and one early evening show. To book tickets please visit www.playerstheatre.info or call the Box Office on 01502 770020.
